Lots planned in 2010. Here’s a month-by-month run-down of the events we’d like to have. Caveat- we need help to organise these! Without you, it can’t happen.

May: tentative 10th May, Learn About Mushrooms night, with invitation to forays in May and July
June: Indulgence a Canadian epic of food and wine - June 14
June: Summer Solstice - Woodfired evening (members only)
August: Beer and Boar - 8th August
August: Greens Eggs and Ham picnic-22nd August
September: Apple Picking afternoon (featured in Edmonton Journal Sept 2009)
October Equinox – October Harvest Festival
November: Mary’s Potluck- November 28th (members only)
December: Terra Madre Day - December 10th

This month’s books are “Rare Birds” by Edward Riche and/or “In Defense of Food” by Michael Pollan.

Did you know… there’s a movie of Rare Birds? Why not watch the movie and read In Defence?

Pot Luck: bring a “Rare Birds” inspired dish, full of good, clean and fair food. (Hint: Rare Birds is set in Newfoundland. Or you could cook a bird rare… that bird would have to be duck please).
Maybe we’ll get a certain newfie/slow food member to come and screech you in.

I will also be showing a short cartoon called “The Meatrix”.

Starts at 6:30 pm at Transcend Coffee, cnr 62nd Ave and 99th St. Goes till 8:30.

The second ever Greens Eggs & Ham Picking Picnic will be happening on Aug 16th starting at 1pm.
The Cost: $50 per person, limited to Slow Food Edmonton members only.

Bring your own chair, plate, bowl, cutlery, glass – help us to have a sustainable event!

Come and pick what we will enjoy. This event will include only what is available on our farm, including drinks

(This is a no alcohol event!)

Our chefs this year include Traci from Cafe de Ville, Blair from Madison’s at Union Bank Inn and our favourite protein chef Michael cooking on an open grill.
